Megan & Andrew are on The Knot!

Wedding season has me MIA in the blogosphere, but I wanted to make just a quick post, then it’s back to grind for me…

I’m so excited to (belatedly) announce that Megan and Andrew’s wedding has been featured on The Knot. It was an absolute pleasure working with this couple, and I’m pleased as punch to see them getting a little wedding blog love.

Lauren & Nick’s Engagement Photos

I’m going to go on record and say that my couples are the cutest. And I’m not biased at all! Just check out Lauren and Nick’s engagement photos, and you’ll agree!

Danielle of D. Lillian Photography did an awesome job of making a parking garage look like the it spot to take engagement photos! You can check out the rest of the engagement session on her blog.

Lauren and Nick will be wed at Landmark’s Art and Garden Center in Tiburon in August, and that means I have to wait 5 more months until I get more awesome pictures like these. Not sure if I can do it! But I am sure it’ll be totally worth the wait.

A Birthday Tea Party

I love tea. I probably have around six varieties in my cupboard right now. So when it came time to celebrate another year older, I could think of no better way than to host an elegant tea party for the ladies in my life to enjoy.

I pictured something elegant and subdued, that hinted at the coming of spring, and am so please at how everything came together!

How To: St. Patrick’s Day Party in a Box

St. Patrick’s Day is next week, and I have a fun little DIY project for you! I created this St. Patrick’s Day themed Party in a Box as a raffle prize for an event a few weeks ago, and thought it was a great option for a quick, super customizable gift.

The idea behind the Party in a Box is to collect lots of cute details that would complete the look of a themed party. It’s everything you need, in one box!

For my St. Patrick’s Day themed Party in a Box, I put together some green striped paper straws, confetti pops, rainbow cupcake liners, balloons, buttons, an adorable little top hat, and some chocolate gold coins. Oh, and beads! What’s a party without some beads?

The confetti pops themselves were a pretty easy DIY: I just grabbed a few treat pop containers and filled them with assorted St. Patrick’s Day themed confetti. To give everything a more cohesive look, I created labels for the confetti pops, cupcake liners, and to seal the box. You can’t see from these pictures, but there’s also gold glitter washi tape sealing the little bags holding the buttons and gold coins. It’s all about the details!

Of course, you can customize your Party in a Box with whatever your heart (or your recipient’s heart) desires. You could even go crazy and slip a one of those mini bottles of Baileys or Jameson in the box!

This was certainly one of my favorite gifts to put together. I might just have to give another one away, soon. If I did, what kind of Party in a Box would you want?

Introducing Kalena Marie Events

I am so very excited to share my big 2015 news with you! I’ve officially received the approved paper work, and Kalena Brose Event Planning and Design is now Kalena Marie Events!

Kalena Marie Events Collateral

Can I just say that I am loving the shortened name? So much less to write and say!

To accompany the lovely new business name, I’ve freshened up my branding with an updated website and collateral, plus a mobile website for viewing on wee bitty screens. Or not so bitty screens for all of you iPhone 6 Plus users.

Because I love a good makeover story, I’ve put together an evolution of my websites, 2012 to present:

While I cringe a bit at the dark grey I started out with, it brings me so much joy to look at the contrast between my 2012 and 2015 sites. They remind me of how far I’ve come as a wedding planner and designer, and inspire me to continue to improve and grow.

I hope you all love the new brightened up site as much as I do. This change has been on my heart for nearly a year now, and I’m so overjoyed to finally present Kalena Marie Events to the world.

Onward and upward!

Annadel Estate Winery Walk-Through

Emily and Jared are getting married in June at Annadel Estate Winery in Santa Rosa, and I literally found myself skipping for joy while we did our walk-through a couple weekends ago. Even on a grey and rainy day, it was clear to see that this venue is magical! With every turn, you can see the flowers just waiting for winter to end so that they can take over these grounds.

The estate features an adorable guest cottage which can be used as a getting ready room. There’s a full kitchen, bedroom and powder room.

How-to: Inexpensive DIY centerpieces

Back in November, I volunteered to sponsor the centerpieces for an ISES educational event. I’ve been a member of ISES for about a year and half now, and it’s an awesome organization – I love when I have the opportunity to give back.

I was asked to create centerpieces for ten tables, so I thought, “hey, why not challenge myself to keep the expense under $100?” I do love a challenge, after all, and 10 centerpieces for $10 each seemed like a good one! Especially when I know I’ll be buying Christmas presents the next month 😉

Now I’d like to share these inexpensive DIY centerpieces with you.

Published! Karena & Matt’s StoneTree Wedding

photobooth_gold backgroundI’m so excited to announce that Karena and Matt’s Glamorous Gold and Coral StoneTree wedding last July has been published in Marin Magazine’s Wedding Issue.

With its stunning grounds, lake and mountain views, Bay Club StoneTree made the perfect setting for this intimate wedding. I had so much fun helping Karena pull together the details of this wedding! One of my favorites: the “Love Story” balloons that guided guests from the ceremony to the reception, each with a note detailing events that brought the couple together.

It was wonderful reliving the joy of the day through the article in the Marin Magazine. Congratulations, Karena and Matt!

The article is available online, and you can check out more pictures of this beautiful wedding in my gallery!
